Education Assistance Program

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics has partnered with Edcor, the leading education benefit services provider, to administer our Education Assistance Program. Edcor offers a web-based solution for tuition and certification reimbursement and supports employees with leveraging tuition and education options to achieve maximum value. Along with this exciting partnership, program enhancements have been incorporated into the current Education Assistance Policy.

Program Highlights 

  • Use education assistance to pursue a degree, obtain a certification, and/or renew an existing certification
  • Apply for education assistance immediately after hire!
  • Continue to pursue education year after year without a lifetime cap
  • Receive discounts from multiple colleges and universities
  • Fees & Expenses included:
    • All required fees charged to students (registration fees, lab fees, tech fees, application fees, etc.)
    • Prep-courses
    • Exam fees
    • Book costs, taxes, and shipping/handling

New process steps 

  • Apply for education benefits BEFORE attending classes
  • Receive manager approval through the automated workflow
  • Attend with confidence, knowing you are pre-approved for reimbursement
  • AFTER attending classes, upload or fax grades and payment receipts as one package directly to Edcor for payment
  • Receive prompt reimbursement for qualified expenses

How to submit an application  

  1. Visit Edcor’s website salemhealth.tap.edcor.com
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Read and agree to the site’s Terms and Conditions, select “New Application Request” from the left side of the Welcome Page to begin the application process.

If the school and/or program you are requesting is not available, please reach out to Edcor directly.

Chemeketa Waiver Program

The Chemeketa Waiver Program allows employees to waive up to $300 per term in tuition fees at Chemeketa Community College. This waiver is automatically applied as part of the education assistance application process. If a course is dropped after registering, the student will need to notify Chemeketa Community College of the cancellation. If the course is dropped after the published deadline, you will be responsible for the cost of the course, payable to Chemeketa.

To obtain the Chemeketa waiver, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit Edcor’s website – salemhealth.tap.edcor.com
  2. Select New Application Request
  3. Select Tuition Reimbursement Program
  4. Gather all required information listed
  5. Complete all required fields and submit the application
  6. Once the application is approved, Edcor notifies Chemeketa

College Partnerships: 

Salem Health has several partnerships in place that offer our employees discounts on college tuition. These discounts are in addition to benefits available through the Education Assistance policy.​ If you have any questions, please submit ticket in AskHR.

RN Certification Bonus Program:

The RN Certification Bonus rewards eligible Registered Nurses (RNs) who obtain certifications beyond the minimum requirements for their positions, recognizing their advanced expertise and commitment to professional development

Program Highlights

RN Certifications are eligible for reimbursement through the Education Assistance Program. Please refer to the Education Assistance Program guidelines for details on how to apply, eligibility criteria, and applicable timelines.

How to submit an application

  • Review the RN Certification Bonus Program to confirm eligibility for the certification, the credentialing organization, department, and your role.
  • Submit your RN Certification Bonus application within 60 days of earning the certification or reaching its anniversary date.

Payout Overview: 

  • Bonuses are paid annually on the anniversary date of the certification or re-certification, as long as the certification is maintained according to the standards of the issuing organization
    • The bonus does not impact either the certification or re-certification reimbursement program, or APEX
    • Only one certification per year may be submitted for a bonus

APEX

The Acknowledging Professional Excellence (APEX) program recognizes exemplary professional achievement among a diverse range of clinical professionals who primarily focus on direct patient care. It promotes excellence in clinical practice by encouraging professional development, ongoing education, and the attainment of professional certifications. Additionally, the program supports organizational values centered on lifelong learning, continuous improvement in clinical practice, and the advancement of healthcare careers across all disciplines.

Turn in process

APEX is now digital! You can submit APEX applications through the APEX Application Submission form or continue turning them in to HR.

Important: On September 8, 2025, applications will only be accepted via the APEX Application Submission form. Any physical applications turned in after this date will not be reviewed and will be returned to the employee. Employees will then be required to resubmit their application following all APEX guidelines.
